EPS (Earnings Per Share)
The profit the company earned for each single share. It is simply total profit divided by the number of shares, so it tells you what one share actually earned.
Example
Profit of ₹100 cr spread over 10 cr shares is an EPS of ₹10 — each share earned ₹10 that year.
Worth knowing
EPS can rise because profit grew or because the company bought back shares. Check which one before reading it as good news.
